We Gujjus call this Pochi Puri or Kuni Puri (Which means soft puri). There is one more name Locha Puri. In this recipe, I have used regular Indian dry spices. The size of the puri is little smaller than the puri bhaji puris.

Steps to make Gujarati Masala Puris:
  1. Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Put 2 teaspoons oil in it. Mix it well and start adding water slowly. Knead it into a dough. Keep the dough a little hard and not get it too soft otherwise the puris will not rise and be hard and chewy. We want it soft and crispy.
  2. After kneading heat oil in a deep thick bottom vessel. Roll the dough into round sausage like shape. Cut into equal round circles. Press each one and use rolling pin to flatten it until it’s thin.
  3. Put puris one or two at a time depending on the size of your vessel and fry them. They will rise if you press them lightly into oil. Once you see the red colour take it out.
  4. Once cooked serve it with savoury yogurt or mint chutney or Indian mango pickle. It just tastes so good with everything.
